Caregiver/Personal Assistant

Woodbridge, Virginia - Seeking new caregiving staff for a young adult with disabilities. This is a great opportunity for a college student, a person wanting to learn caregiving, home care management, health and/or advocacy skills.

This job is with a family, not an agency. You will NOT be required to go to multiple worksites. Great opportunity for a person whose job/life has been changed by Covid and is open to a career change (training is provided). Also good for a person working in the field who wants to leave a nursing home or group home environment. We have two other caregivers working in our home and a house manager. The team supports each other. Most workdays there is another person on duty for at least a portion of your shift, and others to reach to with questions, ideas, and for support. Family members are available and close by for support, as well.

Schedule is Wednesday at 9PM until Saturday at 9AM (2.5 days per week) plus 10 weekends per year. Pay is hourly and equates to approximately $49,000 per year. Pay increase in November to approximately $55,000 per year.

Tasks include assistance with: all daily care, eating, cooking, bathing, dressing, personal grooming and personal care, laundry, organizing and cleaning space, coordinating/managing day to day activities to include medication, scheduling appointments, transportation to appointments and social activities (when safe after Covid pandemic ends), facilitating communication and interactions with family and friends, etc.

You must have a clean criminal history, a valid driver’s license, and must be committed to social distancing/small circle activities during Covid. May not be working simultaneously in another medical or long-term care facility while working at this job.

Must follow Covid protocols - This work involves caring for high-risk people. Please be a person who keeps a small social bubble, wears a mask when going out, avoid large events and travel, etc. Employees must be fully vaccinated and willing to keep up with vaccinations boosters as they become available.
