Overview:

The Career Services Manager is responsible for planning, developing and administering career development and employment assistance programs for Stratford University students and alumni. The Career Services Manager will oversee and manage the placement process to ensure the campus achieves its placement goals, will ensure the campus stays compliant with University policies and accreditation standards, and will build and foster strong partnerships with employers.

The effectiveness of the Career Services Manager is demonstrated through the assigned campus’ consistency in meeting placement targets on a weekly, quarterly and annual basis, compliance with Career Services documentation retention policies, and the effective leadership and management of Career Service staff.

Functions:Essential Job Functions:
  • Supervise, manage and motivate staff and provide professional development; hire, train and manage the performance of full/part-time staff and student workers


  • Accurately maintain and report graduate placement outcomes and ensure that accurate data is submitted as required by state and federal agencies, accrediting bodies, and the Corporate Director of Career Services
  • Manage the weekly productivity of Career Services staff to ensure individual caseloads and campus targets and goals are met; ensure student and non-placed graduate follow-ups are conducted weekly
  • Collect and maintain Career Services documents in accordance with accreditation and University policies
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with local and regional employers, non-profits, government organizations and community partners to identify employment opportunities for students and alumni through frequent communication and networking efforts; maintain a database of contacts and job orders
  • Identify, employ and coach innovative job search methods, interview preparation techniques, and resume writing skills

  • Establish and maintain active communication with current students on an on-going basis; conduct Career Development Series, and provide Career Service workshops
  • Coordinate and attend Job/Career Fairs; participate in campus and off-campus events; including graduation, marketing, and other events
  • Coordinate on campus visitors and guest speakers to ensure students are connected with employers and have the knowledge and skills needed to be successful
  • Actively participate in program advisory meetings and alumni outreach
  • Work collaboratively with staff, faculty and other departments to ensure campus objectives are met
  • Other duties as assigned

  • The ability to work collaboratively with team members
Qualifications:Required Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from accredited institution
  • 3-4 years of experience in Career Services or related career field – recruiting, staffing, business development/business to business sales, with at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training
  • Internal candidates must have a completed CHEP – Career Services; external candidates will be required to complete the CHEP – Career Services within 6 months of hire
