Job Description

Associate Degree

Performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, diagnostic and interventional peripheral procedures. Assists the physician in placing catheters into the coronary arteries, and peripheral arteries and veins so that X-rays, angiograms and other recordings can be taken to determine the vascular structure and function of the coronary and peripheral vessels. All Cardiac Cath Technologists must successfully complete a four-month onboarding fellowship to include clinical rotation within the Cath Lab along with weekly 1-hour didactic sessions. These didactic sessions will complement clinical experience in a synchronous way.

Education:


Associate's Degree in Radiologic sciences


A.S/B.S. from CAAHEP accredited program in Cardiovascular Technology or Radiologic Technology.


Experience:


Two years' experience of diagnostic radiology.

OR

Completion of accredited radiologic technology program and letter of recommendation from Program Director and Clinical Site Preceptor from the graduating school.


2 years' experience within the Cardiac Cath Lab, performing cardiac diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiological procedures.

Previous electrophysiology lab, or interventional lab experience.


Computer/Software Knowledge:


Basic computer skills


Previous experience with cardiac diagnostic testing systems and/or cardiac cath information management systems.

Familiarity with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software programs.


Licensure/Certification


ARRT (RT)

BLS
ACLS required with in the first 4 months

Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification from CCI.

RT(R) - Registered Technologist in Radiography from ARRT.


Special Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • Required to function in a stressful clinical environment working with patients, physicians and other professional staff. Willingness to perform on-call.
  • Proven ability to work in a high pressure, stressful clinical environment.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
