Captain
Reports to: General Manager
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Job Summary: An integral member of the USHG Leadership, this position must lead, inspire and embody our Family Values and our philosophy of Enlightened Hospitality in all interactions with our people, guests, vendors and the community. This position works with the management team and culinary management team to ensure excellence, and hospitality are at the forefront of a guests experience. The captain is a leader that collaborates with all departments to ensure the dining experience exceeds expectations.

- Detailed knowledge of the food offerings including ingredients, sources, preparation methods, possible limitations, and allergens

- Detailed knowledge of the beverage offerings including ingredients, sources, preparation methods, limitations, and allergens
- Understanding of bar setup and equipment, ability to make specialty and classic cocktails
- Perform job functions with precision, speed, and accuracy
- Prioritize the minute details of service appropriately, and adapt to constantly changing priorities
- Maintain composure and remain calm under pressure, resolve problems using good judgment
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment
- Maintain complete knowledge of proper use and maintenance of equipment
- Maintain complete knowledge of service requirements
- Complete and detailed understanding of all cycles of service including ability to appropriately improvise with changing conditions
- Reviews turnover data, survey results, performance management results and talent reviews to create and implement action plans to continue to improve turnover and the overall cultural health of the company
Other Qualifications
Relevant Knowledge, Skills, & Ability:
- 5+ years of applicable restaurant experience
- Proficient knowledge of food and beverage
- Constant curiosity in growing the knowledge of service, skills and product
- Ability to lead and empower a team
- Ability to demonstrate discretion and leadership in all aspects
- Ability to embody, teach, and inspire our Family Values
Education/Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in hospitality
- Demonstrated experience collaborating and communicating across all levels of an organization
Work Environment:
- Must be able to stand, reach with arms and hands, bend and stoop, kneel and crouch more than 50% of the time
- Must possess the ability to taste and respond to visual and aural cues as well as verbally communicate with employees and guests at all times
- Includes lifting and moving of objects of between 10 and 50 lbs more than 50% of the time
