Business Unit Overview

Warner Bros. Studio Operations (WBSO) oversees the physical operations of the historic 110-acre main lot in Burbank including its 30 soundstages and 20-acre backlot, as well as production-related services including costume, set-dressing, construction, set lighting, catering, transportation, photography and much more. The production site also hosts tours for consumers offering guests intimate views at the inner workings of thriving entertainment studios.

The Job

The Captain supports Food Service Management in leading the team to provide great service, great food presentation, maintaining a clean environment, and communicating effectively to key partners on the studio lot. Leadership skills are a must as you will be in a position that requires follow through and the ability to inspire team members to work at their maximum potential. This individual has a strong attention to detail and needs to be ready to think on their feet in creating fresh ideas to improve our work and never settle for mediocrity. This individual will be a brand ambassador throughout the Food Services department and will need to have a sense of Hospitality that is organic, genuine and memorable.

The Daily

Food Services – The Commissary, Avon Grill and Production Catering:
  • Lead the opening, set-up, and/or closing of the Food Services area, including Production Catering
  • Delegate workstations and additional responsibilities to current staff
  • Train staff members on procedures and best practices
  • Monitor food stations for quality by being the eyes of the Chef at the front-of-the-house
  • Maintain a staff that is presentable, professional, and engaged with both our product and our guests
  • Handle discrepancies with guests to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Create and update work schedules
  • Regulate breaks and meal periods in accordance with state and federal labor laws
  • Be innovative and find ways to enhance the Food Services experience
The Essentials
  • +3 years or more of related experience in a high volume food & beverage operation; banquet/hotel facility, restaurant, commissary or catering venue
  • Leadership experience within a high volume; food & beverage venue is strongly preferred
  • Understands and maintains Health Department Standards to ensure cleanliness and food safety procedures are front of mind
  • Must have knowledge of all aspects of set-up, food service, & organization
  • Experience in Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Must be able to communicate and build relationships effectively & tactfully with guests, fellow employees, and other levels of personnel
  • Must have ability to work well under time constraints
  • Must be proficient in scheduling, data entry, analysis, and formatting
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation to get to your work area – on or off the lot
