Summary
This individual will be an integral team member in the management of the integrated business planning (IBP) process that satisfies customer demand in the most profitable way. They will manage supply planning for up to $1B of revenue, and they will have matrix management responsibility for two or more Plant Schedulers.
Specific Outcomes
Manage the monthly supply plan models for each converting facility that identifies and allocates plant resources of people and equipment. The model will be based on the forecasted demand plan, and will be updated to reflect inventory builds, business transfers and overtime requirements. Review supply plans on a semi monthly basis with the plant operations team to drive alignment, and participate in supply plan reviews with directors of operations and finance to develop and align on long term/strategic plans.
Work with other Capacity Planning personnel to balance capacity and demand within the Americas Division while minimizing outsourcing, freight and suboptimal production costs. Drive OTIF to targeted levels of 96% for each facility. Develop back-up plants on major volume items to provide timely & cost efficient transfers as necessary. Ensure available capacity for back-up facilities.
Identify and help implement optimization opportunities aimed at reducing converting costs (including overtime), (GPI) mill freight, and customer freight, and improving (GPI) mill trim while considering capacity issues. Identify enablers and roadblocks, and work with sales and plant management to implement business transfers or new business. Maintain a list of optimization candidates, and quantify the financial impact of actions implemented.
Partner with Capacity Planning & Analysis Manager II and/or Senior Capacity Planning & Analysis Manager to review new business opportunities and collaborate with other Capacity Planning personnel, sales, and operations to determine plant placement for items by quantifying costs, metrics, and capacity. Consider customer requirements, plant equipment, unique capabilities, and (GPI) mill trim and logistics. Rebalance capacity as necessary. Identify headcount implications.
Partner with Capacity Planning & Analysis Manager II and/or Senior Capacity Planning & Analysis Manager and with plant schedulers to standardize scheduling processes across the plants:
- Standardized use of Galaxy Scheduling Software
- Run to have ready dates
- Inventory management – meet established WIP/FG targets by plant
- Run efficiencies including overtime, outside processing, bed utilization, etc.
- Work on special projects as directed. Partner with Capacity Manager & Analysis Manager on projects including strike contingency plans, new equipment, equipment modifications, plant rationalizations, mergers, acquisitions, etc.

Required Skills

2-5 years’ work experience or proven track record for success
Four year degree in applicable field of study or compensatory work experience is required
