Candle Maker

Candle Makers are the first to greet customers and the last to thank them. They are the face of The Smell of the Smokies and are expected to provide outstanding customer service and to exceed the customer’s expectations. They must provide this exceptional service through communication, friendliness, accurate transactions, and store/product knowledge. Smell of the Smokies Candle Makers also maintain a clean and inviting front end of the store.

The Candle Maker will also work in the Old Mountain Market Gifts and Sweets as a cashier and The Tennessee Grind as a Barista as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES?include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Greet customers and assist with any questions about products
• Make candles to fill customer orders and replenish stock.
• Keep floors at work area free of debris and spills. Maintain cleanliness in the work station.
• Take trash out to the dumpster.
• Comfortably operate the POS and cash handling.
• Comfortably answer the phone and assisting customers.
• Teach guests about the craft of making candles.
• Lead groups in candle making classes.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures.

To perform the essential functions of this position regular and consistent attendance is required.

Must be able to work well with other Team Members, Managers and interact with our guests.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• None

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Customer Service (1 year preferred)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Must be able to communicate with other team members and guest

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Knowledge and understanding of basic math

REASONING ABILITY

• Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and awareness of company goals

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for a long period of time
