Salary Range: $205/week

POSITION SUMMARY:Be the primary caregiver for a group of children. During the course of the day you will be required to look after the safety and well-being of up to 14 kids. This position always requires you to lead a variety of activities and programs as set out in the Camp Erdman program schedule. The Camp Counselor will fill the roles of friend, mentor and role model for all campers. This job requires constant 24 hour supervision of campers. In addition, some counselors may specialize in different program areas camp has to offer. Included, but not limited to, horseback camp, ropes camp, sports, nature, arts & crafts, and swim lessons.
KNOW-HOW:
The Camp Counselor must have a thorough understanding of the YMCA’s mission and goals, and a desire to work with children between the ages of 7 and 17. Leadership skills, enthusiasm, patience, a sense of humor and self-control are all essential. Person must have the ability to provide fun and innovative programs to youth. These programs will be a combination of directed programs in the areas of arts & crafts, aquatics, sports, team building, hiking, and self-directed programs such as group games, campfires, camp out and other activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a high school graduate
- Experience working with children
- CPR/AED and First Aid required
- TB test required
- Lifeguard certified preferred
- Ability to be physically active all day
