CAD Designer/Drafter

SENIOR CAD DESIGNER

PURPOSE: To fulfill the vision of Matthews Design Group by overseeing projects, managing budgets, CAD Designers and project workloads as required.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a senior level position with applicant usually having at least 7 years of experience with Civil3D. If the individual wants to focus on Civil3D only, then Senior CAD Designer will be the last stop for them in the Cad Designer Growth Track. A Senior Cad Designer that is motivated to increase their technical skill level outside of Civil3D could enter the Engineer’s Technician Growth Track or if they are more inclined to project management, then they could enter the Project Manager’s Growth Track.

General Responsibilities:

• Make every effort to bring the vision of MDG to life in all that you do.
• Maintain priorities in your life to allow balance between your professional life and personal life.
• Participate in at least one MDG ‘Gives Back’ opportunity a year.
• Avoid compromising situations as outlined in the employee handbook.
• Support the Direction Leadership Team (DLT) in the decisions that it makes and protect the unity of the vision of MDG.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Take the lead on (with Project Manager oversight) and produce high quality designs and manage Cad Designers as required to support the Project Manager.

• Must be able to teach all of the AutoCAD/Civil3D functions required for the Cad Designer 1 and the Cad Designer 2 positions.
• Use and ensure that the company established standards for drafting are being adhered to.
• Strive to be innovative and implement the new tools that AutoCAD/Civil3D makes available for use in improving production by assisting in updating the standards used to produce plans.
• Participate in (or contribute to) the CAD System Strategic meetings.
• Prepare labor projections for the Project Manager for preparing construction plans.
• Coordinate with team to manage workload.
• Coordinate regularly with Project Manager(s).

Leadership Growth:

• Participate in the Cad Designer Growth Track as required.
