The CNC Operator Machinist is responsible for producing machined parts and enclosures by programming, setting up, and operating a Hoffman ModCenter computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Produce approval drawings for customer in CAD.
  • Convert the approval drawings to Hoffman ModCenter software (AREA Commander) to produce cut profiles.
  • Develop cut lists/BOM for slotted aluminum extrusion based on customer drawings.
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Auto CAD. Additional knowledge of Solid Works, Inventor, ad other CAD software is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required
  • Knowledge of logistics safety practices and risk management
  • Physical ability to lift heavy items and stand on your feet most of the day.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision and pay close attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
