What We Seek.

We are looking for individuals who are motivated and hardworking to help build, assemble and package hand washing cabinetry units. The person in this position is responsible for processing material through their work station safely, efficiently; while keeping with the Britten Woodworks, Inc. quality control standards. This is a key member of the department team focused on safely and efficiently producing and/or assembling these products to meet the needs of our customers.

Job Summary and Job Functions

  • Operate a variety of woodworking machinery to fabricate cabinetry and counter tops.
  • Match materials for color, grain or texture
  • Set up and operates woodworking machines such as power saws, jointer, molder and/or shaper to cut and shape parts from wood stock
  • Trim component parts of joints to ensure snug fit, using hand tools such as planes, chisels or wood files.
  • Bore holes for insertion of screws, dowels using a boring machine
  • Glue, fit and clamp parts and sub-assemblies together to form complete unit using clamps or clamping machine.
  • Sand and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare for finishing
  • Read and understand blue prints, drawings and/or written directions
  • Assemble units as described in plans and written directions
  • Willingness and ability to follow all safety rules and regulations, all work must be done with thinking Safety First
  • Interest and ability to work long hours and weekends as needed
  • Other duties as required

  • Assembly work, woodworking, carpentry and/or finish experience preferred
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Good hand eye coordination

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools including their design, repair and maintenance (including table saw, panel saw, jointer, planer, molder, shaper and/or mortise), preferred
  • Know how to read and understand blue prints, drawings and written directions
  • Must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Feeling. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines, such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performs mechanical or skilled trade tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned
  • Subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
