Buyer

Under the general direction of the Purchasing Manager, coordinates and makes purchasing decisions, and manages and analyzes products within pre-defined constraints.

• Purchases building supplies and materials including hardware, doors, millwork, specialty ply-woods. (Does not purchase 2-dimensional lumber, treated lumber, insulated sheeting or OSB). plans buying cycles as well as controlling inventory transfers from the yard to the panel plant, conducts cycle counts and adjusts inventory to cover gain and shrinkage.
• Identifies anomalies in inventory and makes necessary corrections to prevent delivery or billing errors.
• Prepares purchase orders.
• Confers with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred, with 1-5 years direct line experience in the lumber or millwork industry. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable. Prior purchasing background in a closely related field is desirable.
