Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Collaborate with directors, managers, programmers, and users in conceptualizing and development of new dashboards, metrics, reports and analytics.
- Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures.
- Ensure the efficient utilization of data resources across different business units and global locations.
- Develop global maintenance schedules for BI and data warehousing systems.
- Ensure best practices are established for effective problem resolution for a high availability, 24/7, global environment.
- Support the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of BI/EDW systems, including data architecture, data integration, high availability, security, and data privacy.
- Assist in the development of the short- and long-term strategies for the corporate BI/analytics program to ensure effective delivery of information that meets current and future requirements.
- Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the BI/EDW architecture.
- Conduct research and remain current with the latest data technologies and solutions in support of future data management procurement efforts.
- Utilize SAP Business Objects, Cognos, Power BI, Tableau, DB2, Oracle. Teradata, MySQL, SAP HANA, Postgres.
- Ensure change management practices conform to organization-wide standards.
- Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding information-based decision making.
- Design and deliver end-user training and training materials; provide technical support as necessary.
- Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.
- Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications.
Education/Experience/Skills:
Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or in any related field of study
- Five (5) years in the position above, as a Data Analyst, BI Developer, Senior BI Developer, BO Administrator, Business Systems Analyst, Technology Functional Lead, Programmer Analyst, or in a related occupation.
- Experience must include five (5) years use of the following: SAP Business Objects, Cognos, Power BI, Tableau, DB2, Oracle. Teradata, MySQL, Postgres.
- Good Understanding of Datawarehouse Concepts.
- Experience in building in Data Model like Star Schema, Snowflake.
- Creating, modify tables in DB2, Oracle.
- Equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
- Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
- Hands-on experience developing test cases and test plans.
- Flexible and adaptable regarding learning and understanding new technologies.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
- Highly self motivated and directed.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Desired:
- Proficiency in writing simple to complex SQL (Structured Query Language)
- Proficiency in creating, modifying business objects universe and reports.
- Thorough understanding of operating systems such as Windows Server, Unix, Linux.
- Extensive relational database experience with DB2, Oracle and SQL SERVER.
