Job Description
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related experience.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in data science, business analytics, business intelligence (BI), or comparable experience in big data environments.
- 3+ years of experience in data mining and data-set preparation using SQL.
- 3+ years of experience with Tableau Desktop or other relevant data visualization software.
- Knowledge of data warehouse technical architecture, infrastructure components, ETL and reporting/analytic tools and environment.
- Be self-driven, details-oriented, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete data.
- Proficient understanding of data warehousing, data modeling methods.
- Proficient with Python or other relevant scripting language
North America Sort Centers (NASC) is experiencing explosive growth and is looking for strong talent to join the Network Planning space for US and Canada. Because we strive for faster delivery to customers a successful candidate must be passionate about building solutions that will help drive a more efficient supply chain network and lower cost of operations. In this role, you will partner with long-term and mid-term planning topology teams, senior operations managers, S&OP, Transportation, labor planning and finance teams, driving design and development of solutions based on data that will support the needs of the business.
We are looking for a BIE who will be responsible for modeling complex/abstract problems and discovering insights through the use of statistical, data mining and visualization techniques. Further, you will help automate processes by developing deep-dive tools, UIs, metrics, and dashboards to communicate these insights in real-time to the business teams. Successful members of this team collaborate effectively with internal end-users, cross-functional software development teams, and technical support/sustaining engineering teams to solve problems, and implement new solutions.
The complexity of research and skills for this role is well beyond basic data entry and research. It involves complex analysis and diving deep into key metrics based on requests, building and maintaining multiple databases, knowledge of software applications to create tools, and understanding of multiple programming languages.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Use analytical and statistical rigor to solve complex problems and drive business decisions.
- Manipulate/mine data from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL, Oracle) using SQL.
- Manipulate/mine data from log files by writing scripts (ex. Python, R, Java)
- Develop analytical tools: deep-dive tools, UIs, metrics, and dashboards
- Perform deep-dives and root cause analysis to answer business questions
- Be enthusiastic about building deep domain knowledge about Amazon’s business and the fulfillment quality space.
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related technical field
- Familiarity with forecasting, planning, optimization, and engineering economics - gained through work experience or graduate-level education
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The role requires effective communication with senior management as well as with colleagues from operations and business backgrounds.
