Position Summary:


This position will be responsible for collaborative work with Field Sales Management and District Sales Managers to execute strategies that support the acquisition of new business: The position reports the regional Sales Manager and collaborates with both internal departments and external contacts at end consumers, OEM's and distribution to align goals. The main focus of the role will be on the development, penetration and conversion of targeted major industrial Fluid Power consumers and OEM's. You will be responsible for establishing a sales pipeline of competitive Fluid Power targets and working closely with District Sales Managers to close top competitive Fluid Power opportunities in SellSmart.


Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Understanding the competitive landscape/market and building a sales pipeline focused on capturing competitive market share
  • Develop a sales pipeline of competitive Maintenance Repair Operations-MRO and OEM targets that helps the Region meet its overall pipeline expectation
  • Develop strategies and tactics to target, penetrate and close competitive opportunities
  • Close collaboration and coordination with Gates Regional Sales Manager and District Sales Manager
  • Travels extensively throughout region
  • Empowered to commit Gates in contract negotiations following established policies and guidelines
  • Works closely with Regional Sales Manager and National Account Manager to target and close National Consumer accounts independently or in a team selling role
  • Works with all key internal departments to gather data and enlist support for National Accounts initiatives
  • Builds strong relationships with corporate level of distribution that supports consumer contract business
  • Regional coordination of national account activities
  • Proactive account development and ability to make sales appointments and penetrate national accounts at all levels
  • Responsible for reaching top 'C' level contacts within large consumer accounts and key OEM's
  • Develop deep product and program knowledge of Gates Fluid Power in order to properly present capabilities
  • Opportunity management in CRM program of all assigned accounts
  • Develop understanding of competitive products, accounts and Gates unique selling proposition versus the competition


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.


ABOUT YOU

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Proven sales and managerial skills to grow Gates exposure at national consumer accounts, at key distribution and key target accounts within the region.
  • Experience working with industrial customers.
  • Highly organized and disciplined in representing Gates interests at targeted accounts.
  • Must understand the financial implications of specific actions or commitments that would be offered to support contract business.
  • Proficient in all aspects of negotiation with National Consumer Accounts and OEM's
  • Strong strategic planning skills with proven ability to execute and close contracts
  • Ability to work with internal sales and marketing groups to lead and coordinate capabilities with customer needs.
  • Can drive cost savings compliance within Gates field sales force to comply with commitments
  • Project management skills to follow up on work at specific plants or test sites.
  • Analytical skills to analyze customer data and organize outputs in to actionable business plan objectives
  • Presentation and communication expertise
  • Works with all key internal departments to gather data and enlist support for National Accounts initiatives
  • Builds strong relationships with corporate level of distribution that supports consumer contract business
  • Strong Presentation and selling skills along with an operational understanding of key initiatives and drivers within a national consumer account and the ability to match these up with Gates capabilities
  • Business planning expertise and project management capabilities
  • Cost savings and best practice communication by industry segment
