The Business Continuity Program (BCP) Manager position oversees the Fred Hutch enterprise business continuity management program designed to enable Fred Hutch to restore critical operational activities, manage communications, and minimize financial and other effects of a disaster, business disruption, or other major event.Responsibilities: This role works cross functionally with scientific and administrative teams to reduce risk and drive greater resilience across Fred Hutch. The BCP Manager is expected to possess high level skills in business continuity practices and the ability to apply those skills to Fred Hutch operations. This position reports to the Senior Director, Internal Audit and Risk Management.

Job duties include:
- Coordinates the development and maintenance of the enterprise business continuity management program as part of the broader Enterprise Risk Management program. Ensures that the program remains current and relevant to support Fred Hutch operations and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with operational directors and managers to conduct risk-based business impact analysis to identify gaps, set recovery time objectives and convey business needs/expectations. Provides guidance and support to Fred Hutch departments in the development of specific continuity plans to support operations following a disruption event. Facilitates interaction between departments to ensure that interdependencies are appropriately considered within the continuity plans.
- Coordinates the development of business disruption scenario planning and testing. Facilitates tabletop and other exercises, providing analysis and recommendations for improving the Center’s ability to successfully recover from a significant disruption event.
- Monitors business, regulatory, or industry-specific change initiatives, making recommendations to leadership regarding opportunities for improvement to prevent and mitigate business interruption.
- Prepares reports and conducts presentations regarding the enterprise business continuity program to the Risk Committee and/or its sub-committees. Provides presentations to other levels of the organization, as requested, including the board, management, and staff. Develops and provides training and educational materials on business continuity planning and risk management practices.
- Provides support to the incident response team during a business disruption event.
- Bachelors of Arts or Sciences in management information systems, computer science, business administration, accounting, finance, or related fields of study is required. Will also consider combination of work, education, and/or military service to meet the education requirement.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive operational risk management, internal audit or project/program management experience including a minimum of 4 years experience supporting emergency management, business continuity and resilience planning or related activities required
- Ability to analyze risk based on continuity planning exercise results and understanding of the broader internal and external environment in order to develop and negotiate practical and creative solutions with stakeholders
- Strong project management skills including the ability to transition individual project initiatives into a sustainable enterprise-wide continuity and resiliency program. Ability to collaborate across teams, both internal and external, fostering engagement and building relationships.
- Strong oral and written communication skills including active listening skills. Comfortable presenting topics and ideas to peers and others within and outside the organization.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of current business continuity and disaster recovery planning techniques and technologies, as well as the methods used in performing risk analyses and business impact analyses
- Knowledge of insurance and regulatory requirements related to continuity of operations. Understanding of and ability to apply pertinent control standards/frameworks and regulations such as HIPAA/HITECH, ISO 22301, NIST 800-34, COBIT, and COSO in a healthcare environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Healthcare industry or research institution experience preferred
- One of the following is preferred. Other certifications will be considered on a case by case basis. Licenses and certifications must be maintained current.

- Certified Risk and Information Systems Control
