The Business Assistant III position will provide office and financial reporting support to the Quinney College of Natural Resources Business Services Center. The successful candidates will use knowledge and related experience to coordinate business functions for the college to initiate, complete, and facilitate financial, personnel, travel, and other functions as assigned.
Responsibilities:- Prepares and distributes bills and statements.
- Analyzes data and generates reports.
- Prepares various documents such as contacts, agreements, and claims.
- Makes purchases in accordance with University policies and practices.
- Develops and maintains record keeping systems.
- Develops and maintains spreadsheets and databases to track information.
- Reviews and reconciles financial records.
- Evaluates monthly budgets and financial reports for the department or program.
- Provides reports for fiscal planning and development of annual budgets.
- Performs human resource functions, including payroll, job postings, and employment action forms.
- Maintains personnel files.
- Understands and implements current USU employment policies.
- May provide coordination of documents required for business transactions.
- Provides support to the Business Manager and/or Financial Officer.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Six years of related work experience; or an associate degree/technical training plus four years of related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a business field plus two years of related work experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Knowledge of accounts payable procedures.
- Knowledge of accounts reconciliation and ability to reconcile accounts.
- Knowledge of methods, practices, and terminology used in preparing and maintaining financial and statistical records/reports.
- Knowledge of purchasing policies and practices for a public institution.
- Skilled with computer programs, including spreadsheets, relational databases, and other Office programs.
- Skilled with basic office equipment, including printers, copiers, and telephone systems.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential business data and personal information.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
