Job Description


We’re looking for a talented Business Analyst to bring their skills to a diverse team managing a suite of Verisk auto underwriting solutions. You’ll be accountable for supporting product management efforts that make an impact on our customers’ results, and will improve the growth and competitiveness of Verisk’s solutions. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with Operations, Sales, Marketing, Analytics, as well as Product Management and other Analysts.

  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying needs.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver artifacts such as Business Case, Features, Use cases and Acceptance Criteria.
  • Collaborate with architects and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
  • Work with usability and UI design experts develop User Interface concepts and designs.
  • Design test plans and coordinate testing efforts.
  • Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers), the project team and support teams.
  • Work independently with users to define concepts under the direction of project managers.
  • Ensure that the final deliverable of a project meets all of the intended needs of the business with the required quality.
  • Lead the overall test activities on software development projects and coordination of user acceptance plans and test cases with respective business unit clients and software developers.

Qualifications
  • Solid IT and business industry work experience, with demonstrated experience in business analysis, systems analysis, structured analysis, or methods and procedures.
  • Deep understanding of Project Management and Project Life Cycles.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the SDLC models and IT systems, processes and methodologies and their direct implementation to projects.
  • Well versed with Agile Project Management and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong decision making / problem solving skills and experience with Agile software development projects and testing principles.
  • Strong facilitation skills. Must be able to elicit requirements from various personalities across organizational and geographical boundaries.
  • Process driven analysis skills and a background in various requirements elicitation methods.
  • Experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing.
  • Ability to create an effective business case, from defining the opportunity and analyzing alternatives to presenting final recommendations.
  • Effective definition of business and functional requirements and preparing test plans.
  • Expertise in process design, re-engineering, and requirements documentation methodologies.
  • Ability to understand and apply common, object-oriented modeling techniques, use case, activity and sequence diagrams.
  • Solid knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Prefer to have strong understanding of SQL and working knowledge of XML and/or JSON
  • Experience with tools like Notepad++, Postman, JMeter, etc.
  • Strong business and systems analysis skills, test planning and testing skills, troubleshooting skills and experience with numerous environments and architectures.
  • Experience in data gathering and facilitation techniques (such as meetings and customer demo sessions).
  • The ability to successfully interact at all levels within the organization.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in relevant job functions. Preferred experience within the P&C space.
