Building Porter/Janitor

We are looking for a Janitor, or custodian, to take care of our building and carry out cleaning, maintenance and security duties. The goal is to keep our building in a clean and orderly condition. The proper candidate will be able to work as a team with other maintenance staff & alone & have the ability to work on a schedule to accomplish the goals of each work day & week. This position covers a complex of commercial buildings where the work includes upkeep inside lobbies, stairwells, loading docks etc as well as the grounds, parking lots, sidewalks etc outside. The ideal candidate will have experience in both indoor & outdoor facility upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, stairwells, lobbies, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc)
• Exterior upkeep of property areas (sweeping, shoveling, plant care, hosing, windows, trash/dumpster duties, weed eating, lawn moving, windows etc)

• Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects inside & outside

• Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
• Stock and maintain supply rooms, keep organized all supplies & tools & in good working condition

• Cooperate with the rest of the staff & assist at times the maintenance supervisor & other workers on specific projects if needed

• Follow all health and safety regulations

Skills

• Proven working experience as a janitor
• Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
• Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets
• Integrity and ability to work independently
• High school degree, proficient in English

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
