Introduction

Do you have experience supervising building and grounds maintenance operations? The Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs is looking for an experience professional to manage maintenance of our building and grounds in the west-central area of the state.

This is a Wisconsin state civil service position. Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Facilities Management Branch Chief, this position provides oversight and supervision in all aspects of buildings/grounds maintenance and operations for all DMA locations and facilities in Area 3. The assigned area includes armories at 8 different locations, as well as many buildings and other assets to be maintained at Fort McCoy, where this position will be located. With emphasis on customer service, this position serves as the Area Superintendent, completing various administrative functions in support of buildings and grounds administration. This position will oversee the execution of service contracts for custodial services, landscape maintenance, and pavement clearing and small maintenance and repair, remodeling and construction projects contracts. This position is also responsible for security and accountability of assigned personnel through key control, tools and equipment inventory, quality control of direct pay invoices purchase cards, and other similar duties. Ensures there is an adequate inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment to accomplish maintenance functions. Oversees the preventative maintenance programs and completes various inspections.

Salary Information

The starting compensation for this position will be $24.33 to $38.29 per hour ($50,606 to $79,643 annually), plus a generous benefits package (81-03). For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

This positin has the following conditions of employment

  • Must live within 45 minutes of the location identified as the headquarters for this position.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license for travel within the assigned area. Some overnight travel will be required.
  • Must be able to pass a National Agency Check (NAC) in order to obtain a U.S. Government Common Access Card (CAC).
  • A 12-month probationary period is required.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in planning and supervising commercial building and grounds operations (both internal and external building components).
  • Experience with commercial and residential HVAC, lighting, and plumbing systems.
  • Has performed administrative supervisory duties (performance evaluations, hiring, counseling, discipline, etc.)
  • Experience with snow removal operations.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience with planning and managing commercial building and grounds operations for multiple complex facilities at multiple locations, including managing vendor contracts for services such as janitorial, refuse, snow removal, etc.
  • Has independently managed a program budget.
  • Managed key control for facilities.
  • Estimated costs and expenses for future budget development.
