Job Description
The Global Impact Team brings together key functions across McDonald’s that are critical to achieving McDonald’s purpose to feed and foster communities, including Global Communications, Government Relations, Public Policy, Sustainability, International Corporate Relations, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and oversight for the company’s corporate philanthropy and ESG strategy.
The Communications Team is comprised of industry-leading communications experts focusing on Media, Leadership Communications, Brand Communications and McDonald’s System Communications. They are based across McDonald’s global and US footprint, supporting a range of communications priorities from on-the-ground field engagement through international communications.
Global Impact Communications Objective:
The overall objective of the Global Impact Communications Team is to elevate McDonald’s Corporation into one of the world’s most admired companies through superior business performance, enabled by world class talent, who embody the McDonald’s values and are inspired to serve our communities.
Global Impact Communications Areas of Responsibility:
The Communications Team partners across the McDonald’s enterprise to ensure a consistent brand voice and response, as well as communications readiness for issues that have material and reputational impact on the brand. The team works closely with McDonalds’ global and US markets to develop brand communications strategies and compelling relevant content to drive brand reputation, analyzing trends and conversations globally to help mitigate brand risks and maximize opportunities. The team develops and executes cutting-edge campaigns that inspire customers to experience feel-good moments over our food, consumer experience, multicultural strategy, and people activations. We work with internal partners and agencies to drive engaging, creative brand storytelling through an integrated lens across marketing, earned media and various digital channels. The team also plays the central role of deploying communications internally and externally on behalf of executive leadership, to advance business strategy, communicate McDonald’s purpose, and drive trust amongst key stakeholders.
Role Description:
The Global Impact Communications Team seeks a Supervisor, Budget & Project Management who will report to the Director, Strategic Planning & Operations. This position will support process building, implementation, and scaling across the Global Impact Communications sub-functions – Media, Brand, Leadership and System Communications. The Supervisor, Budget & Project Management will support alignment and ways of working efforts including weekly Communications Leadership Team touchpoints, monthly Communications Team convenings, monthly/quarterly budget calibration, ongoing strategic planning and execution, special projects, capacity-building, and Communications Team alignment as related to broader Global Impact Team initiatives.
This position is based in Chicago, IL at the McDonald’s Global Headquarters - MHQ.
Role Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Initiate, organize, and facilitate special and ongoing projects in support of alignment efforts across the respective Communications Team sub-functions.
- Process Development: Develop and deploy collaboration tools and processes to facilitate standard ways of working, methodology sharing, connectivity, and efficiency and capacity building (e.x. integrated plans, reporting tools, templates, etc.).
- Strategic Planning: Support the development and deployment of annual and long-term goals and objective setting, annual Communications Summits (mid-year + end of year), and other platforms and touchpoints that foster insights and knowledge sharing across the Communications Team.
- Budget Management: In partnership with the Finance Team, provide holistic budget management across the Communications Team including monthly/quarterly tracking and reporting, quarterly and end of year accruals, invoice processing, and vendor management in partnership with the Project Leads.
- Agency Scopes of Work: In partnership with the Global Sourcing Team and the respective Project Leads, drive efforts to achieve scope and budget efficiencies amongst Communications agency partners and increased line of sight into the ways in which they are servicing the business.
- Culture: Support and implement strategic efforts to enhance team culture through professional development opportunities, topical sessions, team building events, relationship building, mentorship, and career pathing.
- Meeting Support: Work with Director and Communications Leadership Team to lead meeting facilitation, develop agendas, appropriately sequence topical priorities, coordinate pre-reads, meeting materials, and ensure effective follow-up on key decisions. Coordinate regular operational meetings, on/off-site planning meetings, and function-level team meetings.

Applicable Experience:
- Minimum 4-6 years of project management experience with a consumer-facing brand in QSR, food and beverage, consumer goods or other applicable industries
- Experience with highly matrixed franchised and international businesses
- Strong business acumen and proven strategic, analytical, and creative skills
- Highly collaborative and adept at leading and influencing cross-functional teams effectively, internally as well as external partners and agencies
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
