Job Description
Overview: As the Broadcast Graphics Operator, you will be responsible for live daily programming and sports production for KOHD TV ABC and KBNZ TV CBS. Your primary responsibility in this role is to ensure viewer loyalty by producing still and animated graphics for on-air and taped portions of television news broadcasts and lifestyle programming using electronic video graphic equipment. You will work with creative videographers, writers, reporters, producers and other production personnel. Good listening and effective communication skills are a must! To be successful in this role, you must possess adequate drawing, composition skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines and budgets. You will also work with design software and stay abreast of technological advances. You must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate broadcast or client schedules and deadlines.
Experience with Ross XPression is strongly preferred.

  • Key information, pictures, and animations into computer equipment to create playlist for daily live broadcast (producer or supervisor to review) with hard deadlines. Familiar with MOS newsroom workflows.
  • The ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.
  • Visualization - The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged. Also, to include the following:
    • Visual Color Discrimination - The ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness. Moreover, arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures).
    • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
    • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
Qualifications:Required Qualifications
  • 1+ years’ experience in broadcast graphic production (design creation and/or implementation)
Other Qualifications
  • Understands and supports company branding and goals; including working overtime as needed.
  • Strong demonstrated understanding of spelling and grammar
  • Experience using the following software:
    • Ross XPression
    • Chyron
    • Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
    • (Basic knowledge) Adobe After Effects
    • (Basic knowledge) Adobe Photoshop
    • (Basic knowledge) Adobe Illustrator
    • MS Word
    • MS Excel
    • MS Outlook
  • Macintosh OS
  • Demonstrated creative ability at a high level.
