Job Description

Position Purpose and Objectives

The primary purpose of the Branch Manager – Smart Branch is to develop a highly effective team that consistently meets or exceeds sales and service goals as defined by the strategic plan and core values for Credit Union of Texas. The Branch Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing all credit union services and activities of the branch and working with school leadership to meet criteria of the Smart Branch program. Additional duties include developing students in their roles, delivering Financial Literacy curriculum to students and the community, and uncover opportunities with students and school administration to develop business for the Smart Branch.


Major Duties and Essential Functions

  • Develop each team member through coaching and training to meet or exceed sales and service standards.
  • Review and evaluate reports of branch activities, including staffing, loans, deposits, overdrafts, charge-offs, and audits to meet credit union performance objectives. Leverage management tools and reports to analyze, identify and strategically address trends.
  • Meet with each team member regularly to review performance and hold team member accountable to the sales and service goals established by leadership.
  • Lead sales training meetings for branch employees.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding branch sales and service goals.
  • Coordinate Financial Literacy opportunities for students and the community with the respective schools.
  • Train students on how to deliver financial literacy to their peers in a classroom setting.
  • Work with school to address any behavior and performance concerns.
  • Identify students and their roles (Marketing, Manager, MRS, teller, etc.) for the Smart Branch program through the student selection process and work with school administration to determine schedules and program requirements.
  • Float to other Branch locations when the smart branch is closed during school holidays and Summer.
  • Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values and long-term objectives. Performs job duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards and our work procedures. This includes compliance with Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, Office of Foreign Assets Control and USA Patriot Act as they apply to the duties of the position.
  • Assign and/or delegate daily work assignments to all branch team members.
  • Accept responsibility for the overall security of the branch, including keys, combinations, documents, records and negotiable items.
  • Manage expenses within an approved budget and authorize the payment of branch invoices.
  • Serve as Notary Public and perform Signature Guarantee.
  • Receive and respond to member feedback.
  • Work closely with Community Engagement to ensure growth opportunities within the community.
  • May perform other duties as required to maintain credit union services and operations.

Positions directly supervised: Assistant Branch Manager, Member Relationship Specialist, Teller and Member Engagement Specialist.

Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience and certifications.


Experience: Minimum 4-6 years related experience in financial institution environment or equivalent preferred.
