Job Description
EAC Network seeks a Bookkeeper to work part-time for its Community Guardianship program located in Suffolk County. The position is PT, up to 14 hours weekly.
Primary Purpose of Job:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing client funds as dictated in the Order and Judgment. The Bookkeeper will maintain accurate and detailed accounts of all assets.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify and marshal clients income and assets.
- Identify clients outstanding and ongoing liabilities and expenses and manage the process of payments for bills and other expenses, using Article 81 approved banking accounts and database.
- Prepare and review clients financial information for initial, annual, and final accounts reporting
- File annual tax returns and negotiate back taxes
- Individualized financial services on an as-needed basis, such as reverse mortgages, managing and making withdrawals from investments, or assist in selling properties.
- Submit written progress reports as required by the Department of Social Services and/or Guardianship Court.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
- High School diploma or Educational equivalent required. Bachelors Degree in a related field preferred, Accounting/business certificate with significant experience accepted.
- Minimum of one year experience working in an accounting capacity required.
- Must have good communication skills, both oral and written; must have the ability to work cooperatively with the department of social service professionals and other professionals interfacing with program clients.
- Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
- Must have access to automobile and possess valid New York State Drivers License.
