BILLING ANALYST / BWPO RADIATION ONCOLOGY
- (3209681)GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Reports to the Senior Billing Manager. Is responsible for the daily charge capture review for the Department of Radiation Oncology which consists of 6 locations with various billing structures. Responsible for ARIA to EPIC daily charge reconciliation. Responsible for reviewing patient service logs to ensuring all appropriate charges have been captured and are posted to the EPIC billing system in a timely manner. Responsible for ad hoc patient account receivable projects which include and are not limited to resolving outstanding accounts receivable at any age, resolving registration, authorization and other various billing edits, researching and resolving account receivable rejections trends as identified. Responsible for assisting with patient A/R issues related to hospital billing. Responsible for providing ad hoc support to Senior Billing Manager as needed for the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Billing and Collection Maximization
- Responsible for accurate and complete daily preparation of charge capture for patient service revenue for BWH and DFCI Radiation Oncology and its Satellites.
- Ensures that Aria/ EPIC charge capture/revenue production processes are being maintained, reports issues to the Billing Manager
- Responds to inquiries from the clinic staff, Finance, and other departments as it relates to billing.
- Provides guidance, communication and education on correct charge capture, coding and billing processes to multiple A/R departments, teammates, finance, and clinical staff members
- Analyzes billing error and denial data to identify root causes. Executes on work plans to correct identified deficiencies
- Analyzes changes to coding and billing rules and regulations by utilizing appropriate reference materials, internet sources, seminars and publications.
- Responsible for identifying and researching payer policy related to denial trends.
- Assists management with audits of billing and collection activity to ensure maximization of charges, revenues and accuracy.
- Provides support to the Department physicians with any billing questions.
- Provides support and assistance to PB A/R team when needed.
- Assists Senior Billing Manager in the development or enhancement of billing processes.
- Assists in training new billing team members
- Responsible for providing support and assistance in the creation of new billing sites.
- Act as a liaison between A/R groups (HB, PB and DFCI).
- Run prospective audits on patient’s accounts to ensure compliance.
- Evaluates current charging and coding structures and processes to ensure appropriate capture and reporting of revenue and compliance with government and third-party payor requirements
- Participates in moderately complex projects related to revenue cycle initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent - preferred
- 5 Years of Professional Billing Experience – required
- Detailed knowledge of third party payers – required
- Detailed knowledge of third party payer enrollment – required
- Proficient use of the Aria Radiation Oncology application, EPIC and Microsoft Office Suite -preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Remote position. Attendance may be required at various meeting or functions during business hours.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Department bills over $105 million in professional charges annually and over $400M in technical charges.
