Position Overview

Summary

Upon contract award, the Transportation Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and transporting minors to and from the airport and transporting minors to and from medical appointments and for insuring the reunification of minors with family’s is completed successfully. The Transportation Specialist will maintain good relationships with NYAP’s various partners and the youth we serve. Have working knowledge of transportation planning, scheduling and operations, county geography and office procedures; safe and defensive driving, CPI methods and first aid procedures including CPR.

Responsibilities

The Transportation Specialist will provide program support including, but not limited to:

  • Performs all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
  • Provide a warm, caring and safe atmosphere for youth.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward all youth, co-workers, families and others involved with the program.
  • Responsible for safety and welfare of children.
  • Respond to emergencies and crisis.
  • Responsible for filing reports for any delay, incident or accident.
  • Maintains open communication with Drivers, Program Staff, Foster Parents, etc.
  • Adhere to security and operational procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • HS Diploma; BA or BS Degree.
  • 0-2 years transportation-related industry experience with demonstrated acumen.
  • Driver’s license with a safe driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency required.
  • Be able to carry up to 50lbs of luggage and work with small children.
  • Working, reliable telephone.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.

  • Professional aptitude, presentation and demeanor.
  • Ability to meet/exceed time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Basic computer experience (E-mail, Internet).
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel a plus.
