POSITION TITLE: Bilingual Teacher's Aide

FLSA: Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current Associate's degree from an accredited college or university
• Fluent in both English and Spanish
• Valid Texas teaching certification or in the process of obtaining teaching certification preferred

REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185-195 days according to the Teacher Agreement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assist in curriculum review and design.
• Assist in instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
• Evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
• Monitor student progress and assist in instruction accordingly.
• Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and consistent with the lead teacher's objectives.
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required to lead teacher.
• Advise lead teacher of students who may benefit from alternative services as provided by the District (ESL, Reading, Special Reading).
• Effectively implement district initiatives.
• Effectively collaborate with lead teacher, department, and grade level teachers/teacher's aides.
• Performs additional assignments as needed.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
• Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
• Serve on committees as assigned.
• Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
