Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Benefits Specialist will track and oversee CFML hours and accommodations requiring specialized attention. Processes and files employee benefits forms and related information. Supports the implementation, administration, and communication of the CNO employee benefit plans.

This position starts at $16.41 hourly.

Primary Tasks:

  • Tracking of CFML hours in all applicable systems, communicating leave to human resources, managers, and associates.

  • Maintain reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work, relay communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason.

  • Maintain complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.

  • Preserve confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.

  • Maintain accurate employee benefit records including new enrollments, family and employment status changes and conduct Choctaw Medical Leave processing/compliance tasks.

  • Provide employees with information regarding benefit programs and assist with open enrollment processes.

  • Resolve common issues on behalf of employees with insurance carriers, care providers and retirement plan trustee administrator(s) and refer more complex issues to senior personnel in the department.

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • High School Diploma

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • Strong organizational skills, consistently meet all deadlines, and maintain data integrity

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Advanced ability using Microsoft Word, Excel and HCM systems

  • One (1) year of general work experience

TARGET

  • High School Diploma

  • Tribal Human Resources Professional Certification (THRP)

  • Exceptional ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Advanced ability using Microsoft Word, Excel and HCM systems

  • Two (2) years of directly related experience in employee benefit plan administration
