JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Benefits Coordinator
Temp-to Hire ($28.00/hour Temp; FTE Conversion $58K + Benefits)
Department: Human Resources
Reports to: VP, Human Resources
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Position Summary: Responsible for the day-to day administration of Hospital Benefits Program.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in education or experience.
Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Experience: Three years of experience in a similar capacity.

II. Essential Functions of the Job:
Assists employees in solving day to day claim problems, handles benefit questions, serves as
liaison between insurance carriers and employees with benefit issues.
Advises employees of proper procedures in filing benefit claims.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of benefit regulations.
Maintains all aspects of Wellness Program
Ensures that all COBRA procedures are followed.
Oversees the assembly of Life Insurance conversion packets for signature and mailings.
Oversee the enrollment and terminations of employees in all benefit programs.
Makes transmittal for any unusual payroll changes related to benefits.
Verifying and processing monthly 401(k) eligibility report, weekly payroll changes, verifying
YTD compensation.
Sends out bi-weekly notices to all employees on Leave of Absence, advising them of benefit
payments due to Hospital.
Responds to benefit surveys as needed.
Processes forms necessary for employees requesting Social Security and Medicare.
Maintains relationships with vendors.
Provides coverage for reception desk daily and as needed.
III. Medical Center Expectations:
1. The employee demonstrates adaptability and flexibility in accepting work assignments.
2. Demonstrates compliance with Hospital and departmental dress code policy by appearing well-groomed, wearing ID badge while on duty, and maintaining a professional appearance.
3. Observes Hospital policy concerning fire and safety regulations, infection prevention standards, smoking restrictions, telephone usage, and other rules governing conduct while at work.
4. Displays and maintains a positive, professional demeanor.
5. Demonstrates a commitment to own work schedule by adhering to standards related to: attendance, punctuality, observing correct time frames for meals/breaks, utilizing time productively.
6. Supports the Corporate Compliance Program to adhere to the Hospital Code of Ethics and related policies, as well as complying with all State and Federal regulations.
7. Practices confidentiality in interactions with patients, families, visitors, and other staff. The employee maintains HIPAA compliance and exercises discretion and sound judgment when discussing sensitive information.
