Job Description

General Position Description: The Group Facilitator will lead parenting and/or children’s groups using the Incredible Years or other approved curriculum. The Group Facilitator will be under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates parent groups using the Incredible Years or other approved curriculum.
  • Facilitates children’s social skills group using the Incredible Years Dinosaur School curriculum.
  • Gathers information from the referral source about current status of the child and family.
  • Reports to the Child and Family Team (CFT) by attending meetings and/or providing regular updates.
  • Implements components of the child’s Individualized Service Plans with consideration for the family’s unique needs, strengths, and goals.
  • Engage parent/child/caregiver in defining issues, creating goals, and identifying strengths to further their learning process.
  • Develops a culturally sensitive rapport and professional relationship with family.
  • Prepares for each group or session including participation and recruitment activities, gathering supplies, preparing lessons and activities, and having resources specific to the needs of the child and family.
  • Encourages and models appropriate early childhood practices, parenting skills and behavior management/modification techniques.
  • Focuses on the safety and well-being of the child(ren) in all work with each family.
  • Promotes and models positive parent-child interactions and relationships.
  • Demonstrates fidelity to the Incredible Years and/or other established model.
  • Submits accurate and complete paperwork within required timelines.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in required staff meetings.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with program participants, staff, collaborating people, programs and state agencies.
  • Maintain agreed upon work schedule, be punctual, keep appointments and use time efficiently.
  • Utilize supervision effectively, accept feedback in a professional manner and accept responsibility for job performance.
  • Attend required professional development opportunities and maintain knowledge of current research and effective approaches.
  • Communicate essential information with EBF team staff and team members accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Understand and maintain confidential information within the confines of HIPAA

Knowledge and Skills (with or without accommodation):

  • Ability to work flexible hours including afternoon and evening hours.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively in English.
  • Knowledge of and experience with behavior management/modification techniques and interventions with young children.
  • Working knowledge of the impact of domestic violence, mental illness, sexual abuse, physical abuse, child neglect, and substance abuse on families and children.
  • Understanding of reflective, family-centered, strength-based practice.
  • Familiarity with family and child assessment best practices.
  • Experience working with families with multiple risk factors, safety issues, and behavioral difficulties.
  • Ability to acknowledge, respect, and build upon the diversity of families with regard to such factors as race, ethnicity, family constellation, gender, socioeconomic status, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to teach others using anticipatory guidance, modeling, coaching, reflection and role-play.
  • Possesses public speaking skills and feels comfortable presenting in front of a group.
  • Effective classroom management skills.
  • Has the ability to create an environment that encourages cooperation and participation.
  • Ability to collect data and prepare written and oral reports.
  • Knowledge of infant, toddler, and child development.
  • Ability to complete job responsibilities autonomously without daily oversight.
  • Ability to use the following office equipment; computer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to linguistic, cultural, social, economic, individual and role differences among persons and families served.
  • Works with families in an empathic, professional, and objective manner.
  • Ensures all verbal and written communication promotes respect for the family’s values, ideas, suggestions, and priorities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education –
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field and 1 year behavior management experience.
  • Experience –
    • Experience working with young children and their families required.
    • 1-year behavior management experience
  • Regulatory –
    • Minimum 21 years of age.
    • Arizona Driver’s License, 39-month Motor Vehicle Report and proof of vehicle registration and liability insurance that meets insurance requirements.
    • Must possess a valid AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
    • CPR and First Aid certification (Employer provides).
    • Initial current negative TB test result (Employer provides).
    • Meet the behavioral health requirements of a Behavioral health Technician (BHT).
    • Qualified employees who are interested in applying must first notify their current Supervisor of their intent to apply for another job opening within ESBF for informational purposes.
    • Qualified employees must have held their current position with EBF for a least twelve (12) consecutive months and, have a satisfactory performance record and have no disciplinary actions during the last twelve (12) consecutive months.
    • Spanish speaking preferred.

Other Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as face mask, gown, goggles and gloves, for any amount of time necessary to provide a physical barrier to protect the employee and others.
  • Must be able to walk, run, climb, stoop, kneel, sit, stand, reach, stretch, bend, squat.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to remain calm, non-defensive with a supportive attitude during stressful, potential crisis, and crisis situations.
  • Must be able to work in an extremely stressful environment where there are considerable mental and emotional demands. The types of situations that may be encountered, particularly when children and adults are involved, cause emotional stress.
  • Must be able to manage high volumes and unpredictability of work.
  • Must be able to remain flexible and reprioritize according to the changing demands of the day.
  • Must be able to manage stress in a fast - paced, unpredictable, and high intensity setting.
  • Must be able to represent EBF in a professional manner in all situations.

Working Conditions:

Requires high level of energy to perform the daily activities of a primarily administrative nature. Requires standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, and squatting. Requires extensive typing and writing.
