Position Summary:
Oversee development and implementation of behavior support plans for individuals with challenging behaviors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads the process for conducting functional assessments of behaviors using a variety of means, including reliable and valid assessment tools when indicated and direct and indirect behavioral assessment procedures.
- Develops and implements behavior support plans using current and ethical practices of positive behavior analysis. Requires good writing skills, the ability to meet deadlines, work with others, manage paperwork, and use basic math skills to assess data.
- Develop behavioral goals for IEP/Res Hab/Day Hab plan (as applicable) in collaboration with treatment team members.
- Create data collection systems for plans and/or monitor, graph, and analyze data pertaining to behavior plans.
- Collaborates with staff as needed pertaining to behavior problems and/or replacement behaviors.
- Provides direct care in the classroom or residential setting as needed with the purpose of modeling behavior interventions for staff members.
- Responds to Crisis Team calls on main campus (if applicable).
- Conducts regular and formal behavior observations across environments and adjusts interventions/plans accordingly. This includes the actual observation, staff interviews, and documentation of progress and observations in clinical notes.
- Assists in dealing with behavioral/psychiatric emergencies which may include physical intervention and providing direction to staff members.
- Receives clinical supervision/consultation from lead behavior specialist or clinical supervisor, and/or doctoral level consultants.
- Attends and participates in team meetings as needed.
- Assists with new employee training and supports Behavior Specialists 1 and 2 as needed.
Provides supervision to BCBAs in training as assigned. - Serves as a resource to staff members for information on issues pertaining to psychology (such as behavior analysis, diagnosis, test interpretation, treatments, teaching techniques, therapies, etc.) within their competency and expertise.
- Attends and participates in professional development such as conferences or continuing education as assigned. Maintains BCBA certification.
- Consults with other professionals such as psychiatrist, medical doctors, school or other counselors, etc.
- Participates in psychiatric clinic/appointments as needed.
- Functions as a member of a treatment team to best serve the needs of the participant.
Works very closely with site supervisors. Sets up and attends meetings when needed. - Utilizes the Human Rights Committee for restrictive interventions.
- Communicates with parents or guardians regarding the behavioral status of participants.
Obtains appropriate approvals when needed. - Adheres to ethical standards for behavior analysts and mental health professionals and Springbrook Behavioral Services policies/procedures, as well as all oversight agency regulations (OPWDD, SED).
- Fulfills any other requirements/responsibilities as delegated by supervisor.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
- BCBA and Master’s degree required. Experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; have the aptitude to learn other computer software as necessary.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs.
- Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.
- Be able to perform all physical interventions.
