Battery Assembly Engineer / Pilot Line Manager
This position will be the co-leader of an assembly area and operation for a new class of lead-based batteries, called Silicon Joule.
The employee will work directly for Gridtential Energy, but report to work each day in the East Penn Manufacturing R&D Innovation Center.
KEY TASKS:
- Management of a small scale assembly operation with 10-20 process steps.
- Lead projects and tasks associated with an assembly line for innovative lead-based battery systems.
- Lead implementation of production equipment, tooling and instrumentation related to assembly and testing of innovative lead-based battery systems.
- Lead the mechanical assembly and electrical testing processes through observation, fact finding, communication of results, and recommend improvements.
- Working with small scale adhesive, welding, pneumatic pressing, laser welding, battery charging, battery cycling and battery testing systems.
- Set up and test batteries for conformance to specifications and complete required documents.
- Works with close tolerances and fits to meet requirements.
- Repair, service and adjust equipment and production tooling such as production tooling, air systems, electrical assemblies and other hardware.
- Maintain an organized and continuously improving workspace using LEAN techniques.
- Understand and maintain quality standards and expectations
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with other employees to improve execution of tasks.
- Utilize both hand and power tools effectively while maintaining high safety standards.
- Read bills of material to determine proper assembly of parts.
- Immediately report and/or repair problems.
- Communicate across the company as needed to involve the right resources for the problem at-hand.
- Develop and follow approved procedures in place for the assembly process
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline.
- Mechanical assembly background and experience with precision components.
- Electrical/electronics background is a plus.
- Basic equipment programming and recipe management.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
- Position requires strong observation, analytical and evaluating skills to report and troubleshoot.
- Applicants must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Compliance with all safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 60lbs.
- This position requires walking, standing, twisting, reaching, bending and lifting - up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Strong computer and standard office software skills are required.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
