Position: Banquet Server
Reports to: Banquet Director
Job Summary: The Banquet Server is responsible for all aspects of proper food and beverage service for catered events. Special emphasis is placed on accommodating guest preferences, flexibility with work assignments, efficiency, quality, and social demeanor that contributes to a hospitable environment.
Essential Functions:

  • Setup banquet areas to include linen, service ware and glassware.
  • Serve food and/or beverages in a professional manner.
  • Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function.
  • Understand how to set up multiple buffets according to the requirements on the banquet event order.
  • Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guest’s overall satisfaction.
  • Once banquet is complete, reset room according to specifications to ensure readiness for the next business day or function.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Required to be able to work varying schedules from time to time. All employees are required to attend all scheduled training and departmental sessions.
  • Arrive in assigned work area on time in full, clean and pressed assigned uniform for scheduled shift.
  • Perform and complete any and all assigned tasks by management.
  • Be totally familiar with hotel operations/locations and be able to direct guest and answer guest questions of general facility.

Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of demonstrated Banquet experience, preferably in a large-scale Catering environment.
  • Previous waitress, waiter or banquet server experience required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance, adhering to Lake House uniform standards.
  • Ability to think and work quickly on feet.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work ten hour-plus shifts plus the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of a shift.
  • All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Oak Hill's appearance standards.
  • Will be occasionally required to perform job functions outdoors and be exposed to sun, heat, humidity and other elements.
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extended shifts.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
  • Must be able to periodically lift and carry up to 30 lbs. over the course of a shift.
