We are looking for a high-performing APEM who is responsible for managing execution of design, analysis, development, testing and management of engineering projects for Autonomous Vehicle components where creativity, initiative and independent judgment are involved.

Responsible for specifying requirements, execution and evaluation of advanced designs, analysis, development, testing and control of major advanced engineering projects where creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment. Coordinates with Program Team, SMT, Advanced Engineering, Purchasing, Cruise, Legal and others on accelerated autonomous technology insertion. Consults with Sensor PEM as required.

AVT Strategy
  • Lead Engineering Representative in Advanced CIT
  • Specifies and balances system requirements
  • Coordinate advanced technology strategy reviews and setup regular AV-VP reviews
  • Support future cost reduction, cost curve, and forecasting activities
  • Coordinate with purchasing on supplier immersion events
  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
  • Align Advanced Engineering and R&D efforts with business and technical strategy
  • Special projects including the following: new process implementation, CTA requests, AV-VP requests, and what-if studies.

AVT Execution
  • Drive implementation of AVT Strategy Roadmap on time with rigor
  • SAP/Shopping Cart follow-up, sign off, and process oversight
  • Initiate/track/respond to CR/DNs and PCCRs
  • Lead resolution of advanced Autonomous Technology issues across SMT's/PIT's/Assembly Plants/Cruise/IT/Legal/Purchasing
  • Coordinates with Program Team members on transition from advanced to execution to implement Autonomous Technology insertion/engineering changes
  • Oversee Advanced Development Strategy and execution and eliminate internal roadblocks
  • Plans and implements test and/or development projects
  • Travels as required

AVT Business & Partnerships Management
  • Host/Lead AV Technology ECT Meeting
  • Host/Lead Autonomous Partnerships Meeting
  • Host/Lead Technology and Process Integration Review (TaPIR)
  • Support Autonomous Budget development and maintenance
  • Supports critical supplier partnership/relationship development
  • Lead/Represent Technology road map development and read-across
  • Support Business and Technical NDA execution and oversight
Lead development of new processes to help standardize rapid development

Additional Job Description

Required Skills
  • BSE, BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of Electronic module experience in (Development or Release)
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
  • Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
  • Specific knowledge of engineering discipline (e.g. mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, control systems) within job-related area
  • High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area
  • DFSS Green Belt Certification

Preferred Skills
  • Strong understanding of GM innovation, ATW, release, and integration processes
  • 1 year of Electronic module experience in (Development or Release)
  • Strong understanding of GM VDP
  • Strong understanding of VESCOM release process
  • Understanding of Advanced Sensing and Computing technologies
  • Understanding of agile development process
  • OPEX Project involvement experience
  • DFSS Back Belt Certification
  • Four or more years' experience in job-related area
