This position is a hybrid role with a flexible onsite/remote work schedule.

About This Role

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to maintain and troubleshoot Rockwell PLC and DeltaV control system hardware and software in support of development and production scale biopharmaceutical processes at the RTP Bio facility. The engineer will participate in medium to large engineering projects with multi-functional teams to implement changes and improve existing processes/automation systems. The engineer will be responsible for creating and maintaining software life cycle design/validation documents and will execute software/hardware validation in support of installation, commissioning, and manufacturing release. This position is part of the Automation Systems team and offers a unique opportunity to learn new or unfamiliar systems/applications such as PI, Infobatch, Unicorn and TopView.

What You’ll Do

If you are an Engineer III:

  • Design and support new software for process improvements or new equipment; small to medium difficulty.
  • Troubleshoot Rockwell PLC and DeltaV software and hardware; small to medium difficulty.
  • Create and update SDLC documentation.
  • Build and execute automation test protocols.
  • Collaborate with minimum 1-2 stakeholder groups.
  • Ownership of small to medium automation change control process and validation packages.
  • Build project schedule for small to medium projects.
  • Belegate and manage small project tasks.
  • Lead small capital projects, support medium to large capital projects

If you are a Sr. Engineer I:

  • Design and support new software for process improvements or new equipment; medium to hard difficulty.
  • Troubleshoot Rockwell PLC and DeltaV software and hardware; medium to complex difficulty.
  • Create and update SDLC documentation.
  • Collaborate with minimum 3-5 stakeholder groups.
  • Ownership of medium to large automation change control process and validation packages.
  • Delegate and manage medium project tasks and manage their completion by junior engineers or contractors.
  • Leadership role engineering projects.
  • Build project schedule for medium to large projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers on medium/complex/project tasks.

Who You Are

You have a strong technical background and enjoy solving problems and developing solutions for complicated functionality requests. You enjoy taking ownership of automation systems and supporting/maintaining them. You enjoy working closely with multiple functional groups in support of equipment and processes.


Qualifications


Engineer III

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or Computer Sciences.
  • 2-4 years experience in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Rockwell PLCs/DeltaV and associated applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with and ability to learn new/unfamiliar automation systems and equipment
  • Working knowledge of cGMP and GAMP guidelines


Sr. Engineer I

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or Computer Sciences.
  • 4-6 years experience in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Rockwell PLCs/DeltaV and associated applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with and ability to learn new/unfamiliar automation systems and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP and GAMP guidelines.

Preferred Skills

  • Automation Systems: PI, Infobatch, DeltaV, Rockwell PLCs, TopView, Unicorn
  • Computer Languages: SQL, HTML, XML, XSL, Python, C#
