Job Description

A.T. Still University seeks applications for a Business Analyst - Administrative Systems. This position reports to the Director - Application Development and Services. The Business Analyst (BA) works as a liaison between key business stakeholders and the Information Technology and Services (ITS) department in both the development of new systems and processes, and ongoing operational improvements. BAs are responsible for working with stakeholders to understand their business needs and working with ITS partners to implement solutions that meet the business needs, goals and objectives.

This position is available for on-site, telecommute, or remote work.

Major Job Duties:Analysis and Documentation
  • Works on multiple projects as an analyst, sometimes as a business subject matter expert (SME) in multiple functions.
  • Provides functional and technical expertise and direction for the development of complex university-wide information system and process solutions
  • Establishes relationships with customers, ITS colleagues, vendors and consultants to influence strategic ITS initiatives while managing their expectations.
  • Works with team members on problem definition and understanding stakeholder needs.
  • Works with the development teams to ensure projects remain focused on the solution scope.
  • Transforms business needs into clearly defined requirements that are documented and can feasibly be tested and implemented in a solution.
  • Works with ITS leadership to assist with the proper Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring phase activities including: 1) identification of stakeholders, 2) selection of business analysis techniques and the process that will be used to manage requirements and 3) identification of metrics to assess the progress of the work across all levels.
  • Works with stakeholders and teams to ensure as-is and to-be business processes are documented.
  • Responsible for the development, writing and communication of business requirements documentation and ensures appropriate stakeholder sign-off.
  • Facilitates requirements reviews with all impacted stakeholders including business functions, ITS security, ITS infrastructure, compliance, legal, and finance.
  • Works with ITS leadership in the initial budget estimates and resource requirements for solution implementation.
  • Oversees and consults on system and integration testing activities to ensure systems are developed according to defined requirements.
  • Oversees user acceptance testing and obtains sign-off from business customers.
  • Stays abreast of significant change management initiatives, assesses organizational impacts and presents to appropriate leadership.
Leadership
  • Manage key projects for the implementation of new technologies and related processes.
  • Assist in evaluating new technologies and their strategic implications with the technical architecture

Skills/Experience:
  • College degree
  • Knowledge of business process and workflow analysis
  • Knowledge of transactional based systems, data mapping, and related workflows
  • Knowledge of SQL syntax
  • Knowledge of data and data reporting / analysis / visualization tools
  • Ability to prepare and edit functional documentation
  • Excellent project management and people skills

  • 3 to 5 years' experience with:
