The Athletic Director/Full-Time: Health Teacher oversees all aspects of the athletic programs that are sponsored by DPCR. This includes the hiring of staff and coaches, ordering equipment for teams, promoting events, matches, and meets. The Athletic Director – Health Teacher is skilled in budgeting and allocating funds, and facilitating operations. The Athletic Director – Health Teacher participate in fundraising for the teams and provides guidance to the students in the sports programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understands, embraces and implements the school’s mission and philosophy as written in the Mission Effectiveness Standards, participates in the Christ-centered life of the school; and models the school’s philosophy in working with students, parents, colleagues and administration.
  • Supports the Catholic identity of DPCR as a faith-based high school.
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive staff and student data.
  • Regular communication with school personnel in regards to campus ministry activities through weekly newsletter.
  • Religion Department Chairperson and liaison with school administration for curricular and activity/event planning.
  • Organization and development or prayer experiences and the development of different forms of prayer and meditation to be used in classrooms.
  • Acts as a substitute teacher primarily for the religions department.
  • Collaborate with the Principal and Dean of Students to develop a five-year plan for Bruin Movement.
  • Coordinate and facilitate service opportunities for students, staff and families.
  • Collaborate with President/CEO and Principal in developing relationships with local spiritual leaders in the Cincinnati community of various faith backgrounds.
  • Accountable for forming a faith community, prayer and sacramental experiences
  • Promote service and social justice experiences, preparation of leaders for the Church.
  • Participate in class room instruction
  • Supervisory functions to include child protection requirements per VIRTUS/Safe Parish regulations.

General Role Description:

  • Actively coaches and mentors qualified students in the DPCR athletic programs.
  • Coordinate the selection process when filling head varsity coaching positions, i.e. schedules interviews, screens references, prepares questions, etc. Make recommendations for all coaching positions to the Principal and Human Resources. Serves as a mentor to all new coaches.
  • Responsible for certification of the coaching staff in adherence with local and State guidelines. 6
  • Responsible for the orientation of all coaches regarding local policies and expectations, conference guidelines, and Ohio Christian School Athletic Association regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all varsity coaches are members of their respective coaches’ organization.
  • Complete an information session prior to each season and conducts an evaluation with head varsity coaches at the conclusion of each season.
  • Disseminate, collects, and maintains all required student-athlete paperwork, i.e., physicals, insurance, transportation permission forms, etc. Disseminate OCSAA materials and enforce OCSAA rules and regulations, including player eligibility. Confirm student-athlete eligibility before the season begins and monitor eligibility throughout the season.
  • Work with coaches, teachers, administrators to ensure that student-athletes follow the Athletic Code of Conduct. Administer consequences in a fair and consistent manner when needed.
  • Develop a schedule for all varsity, junior varsity, and freshman athletic events and transportation arrangements.
  • Coordinate the use of all athletic facilities for games, practices, and other events.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Sports Management or other related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Maintain Ohio Department of Education certificate and or license in subject area to teach Health Education.
  • Three years of instructional experience in Health, Nutrition or related field with high school students.
  • Three years of experience working with young people and families of under-resourced communities.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Completed Protecting God’s Children workshop and is VIRTUS/Safe Parish compliant
