Advertising and communications
Business Intelligence Systems and quantitative analysis Responsibilities The duties include, but are not limited to: Leadership, Strategic Planning and Management:
- Incorporate AU Online's mission of online education into a strategic and integrated marketing and communications vision for the organization.
- Financially accountable for the development and management of the budget for a marketing program with the goal of optimizing return on marketing investment.
- Develop goals and objectives for degree programs including leads, cost per lead, applicants, pre- and post-enrollment per semester.
- Oversee the recruitment process and/or vendor relationship to ensure effective management and conversion of prospective students leads.Hire, train and establish performance plans for staff for al marketing and enrollment requirements of AU online.
- Help identify, and fully manage all digital, media, social and other marketing and recruitment vendor relationship for AU online.
- Represent and advocate marketing resource needs to the Dean and Associate Provost, including staffing resource and technical needs.
Institutional Branding, Marketing and Communications Strategy, Planning, Implementation, Tracking, Monitoring and Adjustment:
- Develop and implement a branding strategy based on student and market research and institutional vision, mission, goals and strategic plan. Use response and enrollment data to benchmark and refine the media mix. Define brand standards and provide brand control In conjunction with University Marketing standards.
- Generate and track inquiries from potential students for courses, certificates, and degrees from national, regional, and local audiences.
- Plan and implement program-specific strategic, and multi-channeled marketing and communication plans for online programs.
- Develop a communication and marketing strategy that addresses the student life cycle and takes into account AU Online's priorities including: using customer data to establish optimum, cost effective contact practices; combining customer data to determine best ROI for promotional efforts.
- lmplement electronic and online marketing efforts including: the development, maintenance, and optimization of the architecture and usability of AU Online's public websites; the incorporation of search engine optimization and digital marketing techniques; and the utilization of other social and emerging digital marketing channels.
- Perform the planning, placement, organization, distribution, and evaluation of all AU Onllne's promotional print, television, web, radio advertising and direct mail marketing.
- Assist the Dean and Associate Provost in developing relationships with a wide variety of constituencies within the AU community, throughout the region and state, nationally, and internationally, to advance AU Online's goals and to enhance the organization's image.
- Coordinate with AU's Media Relations team on various public relations and media planning opportunities as they arise.
Oversight of Integrated Product Marketing and Communications Strategy and Implementation:
- In consultation with the Dean and Associate Provost, the program directors, and program managers/coordinators adapt and tailor the organization's strategic marketing vision into a multi-channeled and comprehensive marketing plan for each AU Online program, estimated at over 1,000 marketing projects annually.
- Develop and implement marketing and communications product strategy, targeting, branding, creative services, print and online advertising, publication distribution, emarketing, media planning, public relations, quality assurance, and on-time deliverables for all AU Online product lines.
- Develop a high-converting pipeline (lead-to-student) of inquiries from a diversified marketing mix that emphasizes strategic deployment of resources to the highest converting lead sources.
- Strategically evaluate and select outsourcing opportunities to vendors and contractors for various marketing projects in order to optimize internal and external resources.
- In consultation with the Dean and Associate Provost, oversee marketing-related contracts and vendor relationships.
Oversee Market Research, Enrollment Analysis, and Marketing Assessment:
- Develop and implement data-driven, metric-based marketing research, analysis, and assessment tools for AU Online.
- Oversee staff and/or external vendors in performing market research, enrollment analysis, and assessment services.
- Interpret market research data and assist AU Online's leadership and academic departments in setting institutional and departmental curriculum development priorities for internal and external clients.
- Use market research to adjust marketing strategies in order to optimize student recruitment and retention.
- Plan and oversee program reporting and analysis Including campaign media planning, budget allocation, lead source tracking, weekly snapshots of results, and formal semester reports.
Oversee Student Relationship Management and Recruitment:
- Serve as AU Online's primary advocate for "client-centered" standards and best practices to serve AU's online students and stakeholders.
- Create a client-centric system and identify solutions for relationship strategies that advance AU Online's strategic and operational goal of developing a sustainable student and client base through improved student/client relationship management.
- Guide the deployment and use of AU Online's customer relations management system (CRM) to ensure accurate lead capturing, tracking, reporting, and on-going prospect communications.
- Develop strategies and implement practices to increase student recruitment and retention including: development of customer contact policy (e.g., email deployment and maintenance procedures); initiating inquiry follow-up/student service practices; and establishing conversion goals relative to various academic programs and the priorities of AU Online.
- Create an environment to further develop AU Online's relationships with corporations, professional organizations, and campus departments.
Manage marketing strategies and campaigns that yield a quantifiable and significant return on marketing investments across the spectrum of channels. Positively impact the fiscal performance of the programs and the quality of AU Online relationships with internal and external constituents who are collaborative partners. Able to effectively manage both internal marketing staff as well as external vendors. This role is responsible for designing the strategic marketing with direct involvement in product and service plans for the unit in alignment with market needs. This role is responsible for creating the AU Online brand promise and attributes that are unique and important to the target audience for each course, certificate, or degree presented to the marketplace, developing compelling messaging campaigns, and stewarding the campaign process with all stakeholders. Increase inquiries and enrollments by prospective and current students while decreasing cost per inquiry. Lead and implement brand strategy development, research, copywriting, interpersonal collaboration, project management, analysis, and staff/vendor management. Generate effective unique positioning for existing programs and those targeted for launch. Conceive, plan, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive and multi-channeled marketing and communications program with the goal of increasing student enrollments and revenue in a self-supporting environment and positively shaping AU Online's identity, profile and visibility within the community.
