Overview:
Oncorus is seeking a highly motivated and skilled candidate for the role of Associate Scientist II for our viral RNA process development team. The candidate will focus on developing robust and scalable processes for in vitro transcribed RNA and purification of synthetic virus active pharmaceutical ingredients. The candidate will have an opportunity to get on the ground level and grow significantly with the program. An ideal candidate will be a self-starter, scientifically motivated and capable of performing day to day lab operations with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory experiments to contribute to the optimization and downstream purification of in vitro transcribed (IVT) RNA.
- Carry out synthetic RNA scale-up development studies and toxicology batches in a GLP environment.
- Support analytical characterization of RNA products to assess identity, purity, and stability.
- Willing to support LNP formulation and characterization to evaluate safety and efficacy of RNA as needed.
- Effectively communicate development activities with internal groups.
- Work collaboratively both internally and externally to accomplish program goals and meet project timelines.
- Present findings and experimental plans to both the development and cross functional teams.
- Execute protocols, record laboratory data, and contribute to technical reports.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Engineering, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Science required.
- B.S. degree with 1-3 years of relevant industry experience. New graduates with less industry experience will be considered.
- Basic understanding of Chemistry and Biochemistry required.
- Previous laboratory experience is required.
- Prior experience using DoE to optimize multi-variable enzyme reaction space is desirable.
- Prior experience in downstream purification development (e.g., chromatography and filtration) is desirable.
- Experience producing, purifying and/or analyzing in-vitro transcribed (IVT) RNA highly desired.
- Prior experience with an array of analytical techniques to characterize RNA/DNA (e.g., DLS, fluorescent assays, CE, ELISA, U/HPLC) is a plus.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
