Penguin Random House is looking for an Associate Sales Manager to join the Adult Mass Merchandise team! This unique position will be responsible for selling and managing title base, promotions, and our business relationship at Readerlink for our Penguin Random House adult client titles. This exciting opportunity requires regular contact with the Readerlink buying team and internal departments including providing feedback regarding sell in, market trends, sales patterns, and inventory needs.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the sales, marketing and merchandising of all Penguin Random House adult client titles to Readerlink.
- Running and analyzing daily, weekly, monthly, etc. sales reports to manage account inventory levels and identify opportunities for growth.
- Communicating with the wider mass merchandise team to maximize title growth.
- Remaining up-to-date on Penguin Random House client titles, authors, industry related trends, and competitors.
- Attending and participating in client sales conferences.
- Providing additional coverage for the Readerlink team as needed.
- Traveling to the account’s office seasonally for sell in calls.

- Minimum of 2 years of sales experience; experience within publishing is a plus
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure, follow up as needed, and meet strict deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
- Proactive and able to problem solve
- adapt within a rapidly evolving environment
- Must be self-motivated, but with the ability and willingness to work in a team environment
- Ability to travel domestically via train, plane, and/or car up to 3 times per year (once determined safe to do so)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
