Job Description


When you join the BASES team, you’re signing up for an experience that requires flexibility, curiosity, and passion. As an Associate Manager/Manager in the BASES Vertical Team you will:

Job Purpose:

  • Be a key part of helping the BASES Beverage Alcohol business to achieve and exceed revenue targets through excellent partnership with key Beverage Alcohol clients and driving outstanding project delivery and analytics

  • To execute marketing research studies with a high degree of independence by interpreting marketing research data, writing client reports, and constructing presentations - with the support of analysts.

  • Coach analysts on projects, guiding the development of quality analyses

  • Drive capacity planning activities, to ensure work is being done efficiently and in a timely manner

  • Contribute to knowledge management, including client playbooks, best practices, vertical expertise, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Engagement

    • Engage closely with clients to understand their business priorities and opportunities for engagement through active listening. Builds deep client relationships (bringing in the Director/VP when the situation calls for it) and is viewed as a trusted advisor

    • Understands Nielsen’s Innovation Practice products and services, forecasting theory and broader Nielsen solutions that impact innovation

    • Ability to manage client expectations through the life-cycle of a project, ensuring client satisfaction by providing feedback, insights and updates in a timely manner

    • Assist with special projects to provide extra value to clients

    • Assists with meeting revenue targets, and grows relationships with clients

  • Client Leadership in Delivery

    • Leads client meetings, presents study results and conducts external presentations

    • Manages the overall success of client deliverables

    • Accountable for the success of assigned projects

    • Maintains client standards: deliverables, terminology, questionnaire standards, study designs, etc. and creates client playbooks

    • Resolves or seeks support for resolution of project issues to maintain timing and delivery standards

    • Acts as mid-level reviewer for project work, excluding forecasts, for small/simpler projects

  • Analytical Excellence

    • Strong understanding of all Nielsen Innovation services/tools

    • Expertise in Nielsen Studio

    • Well-versed in non-standard study types (ie restage, future state, complex optimization, etc)

    • Ability to land complex results in a simple story

  • Talent Management

    • Provides analysts coaching and feedback on a study by study basis

    • Identify development areas for analysts, looking for opportunities to stretch and grow junior talent and communicates it to Analytics team

    • Celebrate success and milestones of junior level associates

    • Partners closely with the COE to ensure balanced analyst workflow

    • May have a direct report within Customer Success

  • Corporate Contributions

    • Takes on opportunities to contribute to the broader organization through task forces and special projects.

  • Demonstrates ability to execute against projects for a variety of Innovation products, and develop a basic working knowledge of consumer and marketing drivers of sales volume

  • Ability and willingness to work with and provide coaching to less experienced team members

  • Strengthening the team with your passion for the Beverage Alcohol industry

Background and Technical Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • CPG or Beverage Alcohol industry preferred

  • 3-5 years’ experience in market research or sales

  • Strong mathematical and analytical aptitude

  • Strong Marketing/Research background

  • Relevant experience with, research techniques & experimental design

  • Related industries include: Consumer Packaged Goods, Consulting, Information, Sales, Analytics

While this position will likely start remotely, once we are back to an in office work environment, this position will be located at our office in either Chicago, IL, Cincinnati, OH, Wilton, CT, or Parsippany, NJ
