Associate Instructor –Spanish Dual Immersion Bridge Program
The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah invites applications for an Associate Instructor position in Spanish beginning August 16, 2021. These courses are part of the Utah Bridge Program, designed as an advanced language pathway for high school students who have passed the AP Language and Culture exam.
ResponsibilitiesA successful candidate must be qualified to teach upper-division (3000 level) literature and culture classes at a college level, deliver instruction face-to-face to high school students, and collaboratively partner with the high school instructor for lesson delivery and assessment. Sections of this course will be offered at area high schools. The instructor’s schedule and academic calendar will be tied to the high schools’ schedules. Teaching schedules will be coordinated between the high school locations, and the instructor must drive between locations on instructional days.
Minimum Qualifications PreferencesNative or near-native fluency with an Oral Proficiency Interview test rating of Advanced-High or higher in Spanish is a prerequisite.
A Ph.D. in Spanish is desirable. Complete applications include a letter of application, a CV, a representative writing sample, and evidence of teaching effectiveness (such as teaching evaluations or peer reviews).
Letters of recommendation may be requested at a later point in the screening process. For full consideration, application materials must be submitted electronically by May 20, 2021.
A valid driver’s license is required.
