Job Summary (Primary function):
The Associate Director, Procurement is responsible for leading and managing Incyte’s procurement activities within the Global Commercial space, developing a broad service strategy to ensure effective supplier selection and management, risk mitigation, cost effective source, contract management and negotiations, and compliance to corporate policies. The Associate Director is responsible for the oversight and management of Incyte’s sourcing strategy for Global Commercial spend. The incumbent works closely with multiple internal and external partners to facilitate and optimize the operational procurement process with a keen focus on customer service for the entire organization.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities):

  • Collaborate, develop and maintain critical relationships with various cross-functional Commercial Teams to provide Strategic Sourcing expertise for Marketing (Agencies, Market Research etc.), Sales, Commercial Operations, Training, Medical Affairs.
  • Assess spend and proactive development of actions to identity cost reductions, improve suppliers performance and business segment compliance with/use of preferred suppliers as it relates to commercial spend.
  • Actively participate in contract and pricing negotiation for all commercial spend. Negotiates pricing discounts and contracts on operational spend and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee and manage the contract review process in conjunction with internal stakeholders.
  • Proactively engage business leaders and develop a professional rapport to drive improved collaboration and cooperation with the procurement function.
  • Drive customer satisfaction through proactive, efficient procurement operations and strong internal collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Ensure contracts and procurement policies, procedures and practices are aligned with applicable regulations, business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Identify and implement appropriate performance metrics, development of monthly performance dashboards highlighting achievements, performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Continually evaluate services offered by existing and prospective vendors.
  • Support the supplier/contraction on-boarding process including review of requisite paperwork, experience, legal and organizational structure, financial viability, geographic coverage, insurance requirements and other capabilities.

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences or business is required. Masters degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in procurement and sourcing or closely related.
  • Knowledge and experience in current purchasing best practice.
  • Proven track record of delivering tangible results in a global complex/decentralized environment.
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical/Biotech environment would be an advantage.
  • Prior experience mentoring, developing, and managing teams.
  • Extensive experience working with cross functional teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prior experience mentoring, developing, and managing teams.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM); Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification desirable.
  • Travel <10%.
