Job Description
The East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) brings people and resources together to build healthy, vibrant and safe neighborhoods where everyone has a place to call home. One of the primary ways we do this is through the work led by our Economic Opportunities team, which connects opportunity through a wide range of direct financial and workforce services.

This position directs operations, partnerships, and programming for all of EBALDC’s Economic Opportunity (EO) programs, including SparkPoint Oakland, which provides free financial and career coaching services, and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. EBALDC is a founding partner of the SparkPoint initiative in collaboration with United Way Bay Area (UWBA), and the lead agency for SparkPoint Oakland. We provide financial counseling and coaching services focused on reducing debt, building credit, improving savings, and increasing income; and work with multiple workforce development partners.

This Associate Director role will be based at EBALDC’s main office in Oakland, and will primarily work remotely during Alameda County’s shelter-in-place order.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee Planning, Systems, Policies, and Procedures for EO Programs
Direct Supervision and Oversight of EO Programs
Program Planning, Evaluation, and Reporting
Collaborate with Partners, Funders, and Clients
Oversee Financial Management and Fundraising

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
A minimum of six years of experience in financial services specific to asset building programs, credit management, financial coaching, or debt reduction skills
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience and proficiency in managing or supervising staff and leading collaborations
Demonstrates good written, oral communication, and presentation skills, expressing ideas and information accurately
Experience and proficiency in working in diverse, low-income communities with cultural competency and sensitivity, and promotes inclusive practices.
Able to use good judgement and seek advice when appropriate
Self-directed, with good attention to detail
Able to define and solve problems, including seeking understanding from others when needed
Demonstrates a positive attitude, respect, and rapport with colleagues
Has at minimum Bachelor Degree in a relevant field
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
Has updated CPR & First Aid certifications, provided by EBALDC
Passes criminal, DOJ, and other background checks
