The University Advancement division announces an exciting new position on the Leadership Annual Giving team which will engage with University of Dayton constituents. This position will outreach to alumni, parents, and friends to connect them to areas they are passionate about through opportunities for involvement and financial support that directly impact student scholarships, hands-on learning, and academic excellence that align with UD's mission.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Leadership & Annual Giving, the Associate Director, Digital Outreach will be responsible for developing a digital outreach program and managing an aggressive digital outreach strategy designed to utilize a variety of communication methods including: social media, email, text, mail, phone, and emerging technologies with the expressed goal of engaging UD constituents, qualifying them for volunteer leadership and giving opportunities, and building philanthropic support. The Associate Director will work closely with engagement and gift officers to formally qualify constituents and to connect them with engagement and development colleagues who can advance their relationship, level of volunteer involvement, and philanthropic impact at UD. As the University moves into the public phase of a comprehensive campaign, qualification work of this type is one of the division’s top priorities, and as such, this position may have the opportunity to hire and manage a team of Digital Outreach Officers. To that end, the Associate Director will be responsible for helping the Executive Director to develop and track the digital outreach program metrics that will help build the case for additional staffing.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years experience working with University Advancement
  • 3 years of experience in university based or non-profit fundraising, constituent relations, or constituent engagement OR minimum 3 years of related sales experience where aggressive outreach was required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience utilizing digital and social media to advance success in the workplace and mission of an organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

  • Advanced Degree or 10+ years of experience communicating with constituents in a University Advancement setting.
  • 4+ years of experience in university based fundraising or alumni engagement
  • Experience with or substantial knowledge of the University of Dayton, especially of University Advancement.
  • Prior supervision experience or experience leading a diverse group of individuals through persuasion and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated successful experience using multiple touchpoints and persistence in securing meetings and developing relationships with constituents, particularly through digital outreach and social media
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of donor engagement and fundraising processes
  • Demonstrated experience developing a program, program management, and establishing short and long term goals
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Exercise good judgment in discussing alumni, issues and results.
  • Maintain composure and calm demeanor in difficult situations.
  • Commitment to the University's Catholic/Marianist character, personal integrity and a strong work ethic.
  • Experience working in advancement databases such as Raiser's Edge


Special Instructions to Applicants:

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.
