Assistant Teachers

The Goddard School in Medford, NJ is currently hiring full-time Toddler & Pre-school Assistant Teachers

An assistant teacher at the Goddard School is responsible for helping to establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing environment. Additionally, an assistant teacher is responsible for working with a lead teacher and in conjunction with faculty and administration of the school.

Responsibilities

The Goddard School seeks exceptional assistant teachers who embrace and support the educational program using learning through play. An assistant teacher must meet the qualifications of the state of NJ and responsibilities outlined below.

• Supervise children by sight and sound at all times, providing children with a safe environment
• Confidently and comfortably interact with children aged 6 weeks to 6 years of age
• Assume responsibilities of the lead teacher during his/her absence
• Plan with the lead teacher and help implement the daily lesson plans and classroom activities
• Assist in the care of children during snack, lunch, bathroom, diaper times and nap time
• Able to accept responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, playground and other common areas
• Maintain a professional attitude and work behavior
• Understand and comply with the Goddard School employment policies including personal appearance guidelines
• Effectively and professionally communicate with school personnel children and families
• Able to comply with all laws and regulations related to childcare

Qualifications

Assistant teachers must demonstrate knowledge in early childhood education, be a confident professional and a compassionate care provider.

• Team player
• First Aid and CPR current or must be willing to receive training
• Experience working with children aged 6 weeks to 6 years of age
• High School diploma and be at least 18 years of age

An offer of employment may be contingent on the following:

*A current physical examination by a physician, including a current TB test

*An approved criminal record check and fingerprinting as required by NJ state regulations

*Completion of specific trainings
