Assists laboratory leadership with leading team members in assigned area or section(s). Demonstrates and provides advanced knowledge of the section(s) job responsibilities.
Detailed responsibilities:
- Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity and references ranges for test methods and instruments. Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Participates in the development of new testing policies and procedures.
- Assists or provides monitoring, coaching and evaluation of team members' performance, especially in the areas of productivity and quality management. In conjunction with laboratory leadership, determines and coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments.
- Ensures staff compliance with regulatory , departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols.
- Performs the job responsibilities of a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist. Takes responsibility for, or provides guidance to team members on, the handling of issues.
