- Full-Time
- Upton, NY
- Brookhaven National Laboratory
- Posted 3 years ago – Accepting applications
Brookhaven National Laboratory (www.bnl.gov) delivers discovery science and transformative technology to power and secure the nation’s future. Brookhaven Lab is a multidisciplinary laboratory with seven Nobel Prize-winning discoveries, 37 R&D 100 Awards, and more than 70 years of pioneering research. The Lab is primarily supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science. Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) operates and manages the Laboratory for DOE. BSA is a partnership between Battelle and The Research Foundation for the State University of New York on behalf of Stony Brook University.
Organizational Overview
The Advanced Electron Microscopy and Nanostructured Materials Group in CMPMS, BNL, is seeking an Assistant Scientist in the area of Advanced electron microscopy for quantum materials.
The goal of the research associated with this appointment is to explore, understand, and control emerging physical phenomena of quantum materials that exhibit insulator-metal-transition, charge-spin-lattice degrees of freedom, or topological properties for novel forms of information science and storage as well as neuromorphic computing.
Position Description
The position will provide an opportunity for research in strongly correlated electron systems, multiferroics and functional-oxide film-devices at the forefront of electron microscopy with extraordinary spatial and temporal resolutions to understand structure-property relationships. Research focus includes, but not limited to, atomic imaging, high energy-resolution energy-loss spectroscopy, in-situ electromagnetic biasing, cryogenic microscopy, and ultrafast electron microscopy. Close collaborations with leading theoretical and experimental groups at BNL are an essential ingredient of the research.
The Advanced Electron Microscopy and Nanostructured Materials Group in CMPMS, BNL, is seeking a two-year Assistant Scientist appointment (a tenure track position subject to the conditions contained in the BNL Scientific Staff Manual) in the area of Advanced electron microscopy for quantum materials.
The goal of the research associated with this appointment is to explore, understand, and control emerging physical phenomena of quantum materials that exhibit insulator-metal-transition, charge-spin-lattice degrees of freedom, or topological properties for novel forms of information science and storage.
Position Requirements
