The City of Ann Arbor is home to one of the finest public education school systems in the nation, the Ann Arbor Public Schools. The evidence of this is shown in the AAPS state of Michigan top ranking in number of Merit Scholarships, including National Merit Finalists, Semi-Finalists, and Award Recipients. Ann Arbor students consistently score well above state and national academic means on ACT and SAT. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Currently, the Ann Arbor Public Schools seeks a highly competent, creative, and committed school principal to lead the extraordinary Virtual Program. A2Virtual+ is accredited by Cognia and approved by NCAA. It has been recognized as an online showcase school in Michigan and been a participant in national online studies conducted by the University of Michigan and Stanford University.

A2Virtual+ is known in the state and nationally for many strengths, including a comprehensive online curriculum, diverse student body, high rate of completion, professional staff, and engaged parents. Students in every building in the district take online classes. Over 10% of the secondary population of the district takes at least one class with A2Virtual+ each year. A2Virtual+ offers students the ability to take one online class up to and including a full course load of online classes each term.
A2Virtual+ offers an accelerated online math path for students in grade 5 who meet the criteria. They offer approximately 50 Advanced Placement course options in addition to the standard curriculum options. A2Virtual+ continually works to align all curriculum to that which is offered in the buildings for a seamless transition from online to the classroom and back.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Teaching Certificate with secondary endorsement.
Meet requirements for Michigan administrative certification.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s Degree in Education, secondary administration preferable.
Minimum 3 years teaching and/or counseling experience in an online program preferred.
Ability to demonstrate sound reasoning, thinking, and collaboration skills; knowledge of or experience with TregoED problem-solving processes or the willingness to learn.
Successful oversight of online program improvement and accreditation processes.
Successful implementation of reform practices that creates and maintains a safe online culture with attention to increased attendance and lower rates of discipline as it relates to plagiarism.
Successful oversight of special education as it relates to online in areas of personal curriculum, resource room application, and accommodations as they pertain to online learning standards.
Ability to demonstrate successful leadership and engagement in innovative work to address achievement and opportunity disparities using data to implement, promote, and assess program effectiveness and improved online completion rates.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Principal in implementing and supporting the District's operational goals as articulated by the Superintendent.
Evaluate instructional and non-instructional staff and make appropriate recommendations.
Assist in providing a positive and safe school environment that is conducive to teaching and learning
Ability to manage and anylyze data from multiple online platforms to support program decisions.
Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for students, staff, and families.
Demonstrate a self-reflective, innovative, anti-racist, equity-focused set of core beliefs Co-create an anti-racist, collaborative environment among staff, students, families, and the greater Ann Arbor community.
Improve and expand the educational opportunities and planning for all students, including students with diverse and special needs.
Demonstrate proficiency with culturally responsive pedagogy and instructional techniques/tools. Foster a dynamic online program culture centered on holistic, inclusive learning communities.
Work with diverse ethnic and socio-economic groups, and maintain positive relations with all members of the school community.
Foster community relationships and partnerships that support online students.
Select, supervise, and evaluate all staff required for a comprehensive online secondary program.
Know the qualities of effective supervision of staff in an asynchronous environment.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teachers in improving online teaching and learning
Effective and intentional use of online tools to support stakeholders and program goals.
Experience with G Suite is preferred.
Work with student leaders in support of program-wide events.
Assist in the development of the master schedule/course assignments.
Serve on school and district-wide committees and represent the school as otherwise may be directed.
Assist in general supervision including evening and/or weekend activities as necessary (Proctoring, Student and Parent Orientation events, etc.).
Serve as testing coordinator for state and district exams, lead testing committee, and manage administration of state and national assessments.
State and National assessment data analysis and data presentation to administration and building teams.
Content area supervision.
Support staff supervision such as office professionals and counselors.
Screen/Interview/Select Staff in supervision areas.
This is a full-time position, requiring regular reliable, and predictable attendance on site to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must be able to travel to multiple locations during any given day.
