Experience is not required, we will train the right person. Must enjoy working with your hands and being outdoors. Our work involves lots of digging (we have five different kinds of shovels). The work may be hot, cold, or dirty and is sometimes physically strenuous. Each day is a little different, and you will constantly learn new things.

Job Description: Assistant Technician (Trainee)
The employee will repair and maintain landscape irrigation systems under the supervision of a Licensed Irrigator or Licensed Irrigation Technician.
Experience: No previous experience required.
Education: Must be able to read and write legibly and be able to perform basic arithmetic.
Other requirements: Able to safely use basic hand tools. Able to work outdoors on hands and knees. Able to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion. Able to follow detailed instructions and learn new skills. Capable of earning Irrigation Technician's License, and be able to eventually work alone and solve problems independently. Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. Pass criminal background check.

Duties:

  • Replace and adjust clogged, broken, or improperly sized spray and rotor nozzles.
  • Raise or lower sunken or improperly installed sprinkler heads to grade.
  • Straighten and adjust crooked heads.
  • Remove and replace broken spray heads and rotors.
  • Add new heads. Remove and cap off heads.
  • Repair broken or cracked pipelines.
  • Repair and install drip irrigation equipment.
  • Operate irrigation controllers.
  • Safely use hand tools such as shovel, pick, axe, saw, pliers, pipe cutter, etc.
  • Hand digging up to 30” deep, trenching, and backfilling. This may sometimes require removal of rock or concrete and cutting through or around large roots.
  • Boring under sidewalks.
  • Work on ladders, operating a power drill, if 18 years of age or older.
  • Assist with installation of backflow prevention assemblies, valves, sensors, irrigation control cable, and controllers.
  • Be on time to scheduled appointments.
  • Record time and materials used on jobs accurately and legibly. Record daily activities.
  • Maintain stock of parts and tools in service vehicle.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $10.50 per hour
